In the heart of the historic center of Tarifa, a comprehensive renovation of a traditional house, owned by a charming Swiss couple, with very small dimensions and divided into three levels, has been carried out, transforming it into a modern gem that respects the essence of the historical surroundings while incorporating contemporary comforts.
The main challenge of the original house, in addition to its small dimensions, was the functional arrangement of the spaces that we found at the beginning of the project. The goal was to restructure the interior distribution within its limitations in the most efficient way possible and maximizing the use of each level without compromising the flow between them.
The remodeling has focused on combining traditional elements with contemporary touches, restoring the original load-bearing stone walls that remains exposed, and incorporating wooden elements that provide warmth, combined with white walls of original lime mortar from the area.
The fusion of all these elements pays homage to the rich historical heritage of the town, emphasizing the importance of adapting historic houses to contemporary needs without losing their authentic character. The small house now embodies the essence of Tarifa and its history, providing an inspiring example of how architecture can revitalize and preserve at the same time, fusing past and present with elegance and functionality
